CRI Pumps honors the Best Farmers with TNAU’s ‘Velaanmai Chemmal Awards 2016’

CRI-Velaanmai Chemmal Awards 2016Coimbatore, 8th Jan, 2016: The relentless efforts of C.R.I. on promoting the farming community and farmers go on to earn the national attention with its already successful programme – C.R.I pumps Best Farmer Award. This award has been inducted to encourage the farmers to adopt innovative measures and techniques in farm management across the country.

C.R.I has partnered with Agricultural Universities across India to discover the potential possibilities endorsed by the farmers in the various states of the Country. In Tamilnadu C.R.I. have associated with Tamilnadu Agriculture University, to present the Velaanmai Chemmal Awards every year to honour the best farmers in Tamilnadu.

‘Velanmai Chemmal’ awards were devised by CRI Pumps the leading manufacturer of agricultural pumps in the country, by instituting an endowment at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in the year 2011 to recognize and honour the best farmers every year. For the year 2016 the awards were presented to the winning farmers by Mr.R.Vaithilingam, Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Agriculture, Government of Tamil Nadu, Mr.S.P. Velumani, Minister for Municipal administration, Rural Development, Law, courts and Prisons, Mrs.Archana Patnaik, District Collector and Mr.Pollachi V.Jayaraman, Deputy Speaker, Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly, Dr. K. Ramasamy, Vice Chancellor , TNAU, Mr. P. Rajkumar, Corporation Mayor, Coimbatore, Mr.R.Boopathy, Vice President – Marketing, C.R.I. Pumps, Mr.C.Kumar, Associate Vice President – Marketing, C.R.I. Pumps.

5 Winners of ‘Velanmai Chemmal’ Award

  • Mr.V.Krishnan, Kulamangalam, Madurai, for significant achievement by using agricultural implements in System Rice intensification and has got 4.5 tonne per acre.

  • Smt.S.Jayalakshmi, Sandhiyur, Salem, for significant achievement in agriculture and horticulture based integrated farming systems and maintains 300 goats, 100 Poultry, 50 Pigeon, 10 Guinea fowl,10 NandanamTurkey and100 Quail.

  • Mr.P.Sasikumar, Thuckalay, Kanyakumari District for Significant achievement in Floriculture (Cut-Flowers)

  • Smt.SripriyaVaradheeswaran, Kamanur Village, Kodaikanal, Dindigul District for Significant achievement in plantation crops. Created awareness about the sustainable agriculture and converted 15 farmers as organic farmers.

  • Mr.M.Deivamani, Mannargudi, Thiruvarur District for Significant achievement in Slatted goat rearing, inland fish culture, backyard poultry,Vermicompost and Azolla production.
